Discovering the Ria by Kayak
We departure from the city of Faro towards the calm waters of this lagoon for a leisurely kayak tour suitable even for the less experienced. Rowing without waves or with just a slight wave in the direction of almost deserted islands, along the way we explore the marshes, the islets and the beaches where we can rest or just enjoy a wonderful view.
On this tour you can visit the Deserta Island and the very end of the Island of Faro that the local named Barrinha. Here you will have time to sunbathe and swim in the beautiful clear waters of this paradise. Before we start rowing back to Faro, do take the time to enjoy the silence and tranquillity of the vast stretches of sand surrounded by the calm and crystalline waters of the Ria Formosa and the Atlantic Ocean.
Accompanied by a guide or a monitor, this kayak tour is an experience to fully appreciate the richness of this Natural Park while practising exercise. We pass by the people working in the clam farms and witness close encounters with birds like the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber), Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) as well as many species of fish, crabs and sea hares that inhabit the shallow waters of this lagoon.
This is a fantastic experience worth sharing with your family and friends and it's probably one of the best ways to explore this unique region.
